The Cannon Falls baseball team lost a doubleheader to Pine Island on May 3, 7-6 and 16-2.

Game 1

Bombers starting pitcher Junior Beau Zimmerman pitched five strong innings, allowing five hits, striking out five and allowing four walks against the Panthers. 

The Bombers had a strong 6-2 lead going into the fifth inning, scoring four runs. 

The Panthers came alive in the final two innings, ending the game on a three-run home run by Carl Schultz. 

The Bombers had six hits and left seven runners on base. 

Game 2

Bombers Coach Bucky Lindow said about the second game against the Panthers that, “it was a good battle for five innings.” 

The Panthers had a 6-2 lead going into the final inning. The Panthers would score 10 runs in the final inning. The Bombers needed four pitchers to get them through the final inning. 

The Panthers had 17 hits on 39 at-bats. The Bombers had only six hits on 24 at-bats. 

The Bombers next game will be Friday at home against Kasson-Mantorville.
