The Cannon Falls girls basketball team had a chance to push their game to overtime against Byron on Saturday, but couldn't make a last second shot, losing 53-50.

Bombers Coach Steve Strauss said they had a chance at a three-point shot, but didn't go in.

Strauss said the team did a "great job breaking the press, limiting turnovers, and getting good looks."

Bombers Junior Breanna Robinson came off the bench to make an impact, Strauss said. Robinson scored eight points, six of them coming off of two second half three-point shots.

Bombers Senior Belle Freeberg led the team in scoring with 19 points. Sophomore Taylor Johnson grabbed 11 rebounds and scored four points as well.

"I'm extremely happy with the way the girls played and how the girls on the bench communicated to help on defense," Strauss said.

The Bombers next game will be on Feb. 9 against Rochester Lourdes.
