The Cannon Falls Bombers boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams competed in the ZMKW Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 30, at Zumbrota Golf Course. The boys took 7th out of 10 teams with a score of 143, just 2 points behind Zumbrota-Mazeppa/Kenyon-Wanamingo (ZMKW), while junior Catherine Wagner and sophomore Randi Hanson ran for the girls.

Wagner took 35th out of 52 runners with a time of 25 minutes, 38.3 seconds and Hanson was 40th in 26:36.1. 

Senior Jacob Wulf led the Bomber boys with a top-10 finish -- 8th place -- and a time of 18:50.0, just 11 seconds out of 7th. Freshman Gavin Johnson was not far behind in 15th with a time of 19:24.9, senior Kane Hanson finished 31st in 20:17.1 and fellow senior Thorfin Lundell placed 43rd (21:19.0). 

Junior Brighton Lochner took 47th with a time of 21:26.6, junior Ewan Johnson finished 65th in 24:03.1 and two spots behind Johnson was senior Xavier Brechtel in 67th (24:21.4). 

Cannon Falls is nearing the end of its regular season. They travel to Chosen Valley Golf Club in Chatfield on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and then Kasson-Mantorville High School on Tuesday, Oct. 12. 

The Hiawatha Valley League Conference Championships are October 19 at the Rochester Hadley Creek Golf Center.
