The Bomber Dance Team finished third in jazz and high-kick competition during the HVL Conference Meet on Feb. 20.

Coach Jamie Swenning said it was a strong showing from their squad and appreciates the consistency from the girls during the pandemic.

The Bombers have routinely finished in the top half in each of their meets as they prepare for sections.

At times, Swenning said, it feels like herself and the coaching staff have planned for 10 seasons. In November, the team began practicing before all youth and high school sports were paused by Governor Tim Walz's executive order.

When they were able to return, the Bombers had a tight two week time frame to get ready for competition.

Personally, Swenning hasn't thought much about what the season has been like for herself, opting to focus on the girls.

“It’s definitely been a different year, just like it has for the girls," Swenning said. "As coaches, my staff and I, we tend not to focus on us or what it’s like for us. We do everything we can to make everything as normal as possible.”

The squad has giving their best effort throughout the entire season, Swenning said.

No matter the change in protocols, Swenning has seen the girls give everything they had in each practice and competition.

Anna Becker, Matti Baird, and Anna Dubbels were named to the Jazz All-Conference team. Marguerite Holes and Olivia Villarreal were named honorable mention. Amelia Qualey, Emilee Burr and Anna Becker were named to the High-Kick All-Conference team. Matti Baird and Marguerite Holes were named honorable mention.

The Bombers will compete in sections on March 5 at Holy Family Catholic High School. The event will be live streamed and a link can be found on the district's website.
