As they do the first Wednesday of each month, the Cannon Falls Police Department will conduct siren testing on April 7.

The testing will be conducted at 1 p.m. The Byllesby Dam will also conduct siren testing for the dam at 1:15 p.m.

Chief Jeff McCormick also announced that testing will be conducted next week as well for both sirens.

Next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week so McCormick thought it was appropriate to have testing on back-to-back weeks.

McCormick also said it’s necessary to have repeated testing later in the evening so people can recognize the sirens sounds.

McCormick wants to remind residents that if there was an emergency, a voice in tone message will be sounded. If the dam is failing, always seek higher ground.
