Important Community Conversation: Embracing Diversity in Dakota County

When: Saturday, Oct. 16 from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Where: Shepherd of the Valley -- 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley

Cost: Free

This weekend a panel of community leaders will discuss Dakota County's growing diversity, reflect on how diversity impacts the community and suggest how to embrace diversity to create a community that mutually supports all members.

The panel includes:

  • Virgil Jones, ISD 196 Director of Equity and Inclusion
  • Jon Rechtzigel, Apple Valley Chief of Police
  • Sachin Isaacs, ISD 196 School Board member
  • Lisa Lusk, 360 Communities director of Programs and Operations
  • Telesea Everett, Dakota County Social Services Children’s Mental Health Supervisor
  • Kristen Capel, local faith community leader
  • The Rev. Randy Brandt, site host and moderator

Those interested can join the conversation on Saturday to understand more about the growing diversity in the area, learn about the opportunities this brings and be energized as citizens who make a positive difference in the community.
